Vortex

in process

Vortex is a very complex piece that required multiple stagings. Four Bezels were created for the stones. The visual elements that create a balanced design are the twisted cage and a reticulated section of sheet. The chain is a series of hand fused links.

  1. 1.Creating a twisted cage involves taking five strands of wire and fusing the ends, twisting the whole thing and then twisting again in the opposite direction which opens the cage.

  2. 2.A Reticulated shape is soldered to the cross beam.

  3. 3.A Bezel if formed around the Boulder Opal. Bezels are created for the Iolites and Moonstone.

  4. 4.The cross beam is forged on the ends.

  5. 5.The chain is made with 16 gauge wire bent to a teardrop, balled at the ends and then bent.

Piecing together the links.
